ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 20, 2012) – The Women's Soccer team picked up a crucial win by taking down the visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans, 4-1 this afternoon.

All five goals came in the first half with the Redhawks scoring four goals before the visitors could respond in the 44th minute.

Junior forward Brittany Kinmond got the scoring started in the 3rd minute after sending home a long shot from 20 yards out on the left side, beating goalkeeper Amanda Volpe in open space.

Two minutes later, Briana Tata made it 2-0, putting a splendid free kick from the top of the box to the back of the net. Tata was also credited with two assists in addition to her team-high three shots on goal.

Alison Kendall then scored her first two goals of the season in the 14th and 32nd minutes to put the game away for Roberts Wesleyan.

The Spartans would get on the scoreboard right before halftime when Mae Comerford's shot hit the crossbar and then got a lucky bounce as it slightly veered past the end line.

Redhawks' goalkeeper Breanna Maggio picked up the win between the pipes after making two saves in the first half before being relieved by back-up Marissa Sell at the break.

The win improved the Redhawks record to 10-7-0 overall and 4-4-0 in the East Coast Conference.

The Redhawks close out the regular season next Saturday when they host Daemen College in non-conference action. The team is assured of a spot in the NCCAA East Region tournament, but their seeding is yet to be determined.
