CANTON, Ohio (November 16, 2012) – The Volleyball team split their two pool play matches this evening in the opening day of the NCCAA East Region Tournament on the campus of Malone University.
In the first match, the #3 seeded Redhawks got by the #6 seed, Houghton College in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-12). Senior outside hitter
Alexa Antoni paced the Redhawks with 15 kills to finish the match with a .342 hitting percentage after giving up just two errors.
In their second match, Roberts Wesleyan found themselves on the other end of a three set sweep (21-25, 17-25, 20-25) as #2 Malone came up with the victory.
Against the Pioneers, Antoni led Roberts Wesleyan with seven kills while
Gisela Ocasio finished with a team-high 14 digs.
Freshman
Maggie Concannon led the team with 26 assists with
Olivia Zureck posting 12 digs and an ace.
In the elimination rounds tomorrow, the Redhawks will face Nyack College at 10am. The winner will then square-off against the top-seeded Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University at noon for the chance to play in the finals.
