CANTON, Ohio (November 17, 2012) – The Volleyball team's season came to a close this evening after advancing all the way to the NCCAA East Region championship match, losing to Malone (Ohio) University in four sets (22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 17-25).

The Redhawks were able to reach the final match by knocking off both Nyack College and Mt. Vernon Nazerene (Ohio) University in three set matches earlier in the day.

By advancing to the title match, the Redhawks were able to improve upon their 2011 East Region tournament appearance, which saw Roberts Wesleyan lose in the semifinals.  The Pioneers, however, proved the be the stumbling block as they defeated the Redhawks in that match a year ago.

In the match, the Redhawks were led by Jordan Wilson, who posted a match-high 16 kills off of 30 attempts for an impressive .433 attack percentage.

Senior Gisela Ocasio ended the match with 14 kills and a team-high 14 digs. Classmate Alexa Antoni also had a solid match with 10 kills, seven digs, and an ace.

Kendall Havener was active in the match as well with nine kills, eight digs, and two aces. Maggie Concannon also contributed with 47 assists and 10 digs.

With the loss, the Redhawks finish the 2012 campaign with a 20-12 record, which is also an improvement from last season's 19-13 showing.
