Volleyball Picks Up Several ECC All-Conference Awards

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 19, 2012) – The East Coast Conference released the Volleyball All-Conference Awards on Friday, which included several players from Roberts Wesleyan earning notable honors.

Freshman setter Maggie Concannon earned Rookie of the Year honors after leading the ECC with 1,004 assists during the regular season. Concannon also led the conference with 9.56 assists per set. The two-time recipient of the ECC Rookie of the Week also contributed with 201 digs and 24 aces this season.

Head coaches Jon and Kirsten Meyers were named Coaches of the Year after guiding the Redhawks to an impressive 17-10 regular season record. Under the Meyers, the team finished their first season in the conference with an 11-4 record in ECC play, finishing third in the standings.

Sophomore Jordan Wilson earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team after leading Roberts Wesleyan with a .289 hitting percentage and third on the team with 267 kills. Wilson also finished second on the team in blocks with 65 (16 solo, 49 assists).

Kendall Havener was selected to the All-Conference Second Team after posting a team-high 106 blocks (24 solo, 82 assists) this season. The sophomore also wrapped up the season with 266 kills and was second on the team with 45 aces.

Bethany Shepard of Dowling College took home the Player of the Year honors by ranking first in the conference in kills with 554 and kills and 4.47 kills per set. Shepard also compiled 310 digs, 39 blocks, and 17 double-doubles this season.
