ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 20, 2012) – Forwards
Devin Grimes and
Patrick Downer led the Redhawks with a pair of double-doubles to give Roberts Wesleyan a 60-44 win over Houghton College this evening.
Grimes led the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds, earning his second double-double in as many games for Roberts Wesleyan. The senior swingman was nearly perfect from the field, hitting 10 of 12 to finish the night with an impressive .833 shooting percentage.
Downer also put up solid numbers in the winning effort for the Redhawks. The Bronx, N.Y.-native shot 50% from the floor to finish the game with 14 points while hauling in 10 rebounds.
Freshman
William Bromirski posted 11 points after hitting 4 of 9 from the field and 3 of 8 from beyond the arc.
As a team, the Redhawks won the battle of the boards by out-rebounding the Highlanders 41 to 25. Roberts Wesleyan was dominant in the paint, with 38 points coming from underneath the basket.
With the win, the Redhawks improve to 1-1 as they now prepare for this weekend's Gary Miller Classic at Gannon University in Erie, Pa.
