Men's Basketball Narrowly Edges Geneseo, 76-73

GENESEO, N.Y. (November 30, 2012) – Freshman Tyrel Dixon hit three consecutive free throws in the final 25 seconds of the game to lift the Redhawks past SUNY Geneseo, 76-73, in Wendy's College Classic consolation action.

As a team, Roberts Wesleyan made 17 of 22 attempts at the charity stripe in a close game that saw the scored tied on thirteen occasions.  Dixon finished the night a perfect 6 for 6 from the line while scoring a total of 11 points.

Even more impressive, sophomore guard Mike Stone couldn't miss from three-point range, connecting on all five shots en route to his game-high 25 points. Overall, Stone was 9 of 14 from the field and scored 2 of 3 from the stripe.  

It was a career night for the Kirkville, N.Y.-native as he set personal bests in points in a single game (25), three-point field goals made (5), and field goals made (9).

Senior Devin Grimes posted another double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Grimes also blocked two shots and added three assists.

As a team, the Redhawks shot 53.2% from the field and 77.3% from long range.

The win puts Roberts Wesleyan back at .500 and are now 3-3 overall.

In their final consolation game in the Wendy's College Classic, the Redhawks will host the Golden Eagles of the College at Brockport tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.

Tickets for the game are $5 at the door. Students, seniors, and veterans are $2.
