Women's Soccer Fall to Nyack in Penalty Kick Shootout

HOUGHTON, N.Y. (November 9, 2012) – The Women's Soccer team fell to Nyack College this evening in the NCCAA East Region semifinals after the game went into a penalty kick shootout.

The Warriors, who were the #3 seed in the tournament, won 5-4 in the penalty kick shootout after a 1-1 score through regulation and two overtime periods.

Both teams were able to find the back of the net early on as Nyack got on the board first when Cyan Jean-Baptiste scored in the 14th minute for the Warriors.

The Redhawks responded ten minutes later when Alison Kendall scored to tie the game at 1-1.

The game would see no more scoring until the shootout, despite several missed opportunities.

In the shootout, both teams were even until Vanessa Sell was unable to send the fourth penalty kick past Nyack's Madeline Barbarino.

The loss ends the Redhawks season as they finish with a 10-9 overall record.

Nyack moves on to take on the top seeded Houghton College tomorrow with a berth into the NCCAA National Championship on the line.
