ROCHESTER, N.Y. (December 1, 2012) – The Women's Basketball team defeated the St. John Fisher Cardinals, 70-30, in the Wendy's College Classic 5
th Place game this afternoon.
The Redhawks led from start to finish against the overmatched Cardinals as Sarah Awlardt posted a game high 17 points after going 6 of 8 from the field and a perfect 5 of 5 from the free throw line.
Brittany Williams scored 13 points in the game, hitting 2 of 3 from beyond the arc and 5 of 6 overall. Williams, who averaged 13 points per game in the Classic, earned Wendy's All-Classic Second Team Honors.
Fellow senior
Marissa Bunce added 10 points to go along with six rebounds (all defensive).
Freshman forward
Samantha Courtney had eight rebounds and six points while
Marissa Sell had a game high nine rebounds and six points.
The win improves the Redhawks record to 5-2 as the team will now prepare for their East Coast Conference opener against Mercy College next Saturday at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 2pm.
Tickets are $3 at the door. Roberts Wesleyan/Northeastern Seminary faculty, staff, and students are free with valid College ID.
