Men's Basketball Take on Mercy in Silent Night Game

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (December 7, 2012) – The Men's Basketball team hosts Mercy College in their East Coast Conference opener tomorrow evening at 6pm.

The game is a part of the Silent Night promotion as fans will stay silent until the Redhawks score their 6th point.

TICKETS
Tickets for the game are general admission and cost only $3. Students, Faculty, and Staff of Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary are free with a valid College ID.
 
One ticket is valid for both the men's game at 6pm and the women's game, which tips-off at 2pm
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (3-4/0-0 ECC)
The Redhawks are looking to jump into the ECC schedule with a win after having dropped two of three games in the annual Wendy's College Classic.
 
Senior Devin Grimes is averaging a double-double through the first seven games with 17.1 points per game and 13.0 rebounds per game. Grimes is shooting 47.9% from the field while averaging a team-high 35.6 minutes per game.
 
Freshman forward Tyrel Dixon has been a bright spot for Roberts Wesleyan in the early going as he is averaging 12.0 points per game and has a team-high 54.8% shooting percentage. The freshman is also 15 of 20 from the free throw line is averaging 5.1 rebounds per game.
 
Patrick Downer leads the team with 16 steals, followed by Grimes and Dixon who each have 12 on the season. As a team, the Redhawks have a turnover ratio of -0.4 with an average of 17.4 turnovers per game.
 
SCOUTING MERCY (0-6/0-1 ECC)
The Mavericks have lost some close games this season and come into Saturday's game with a -10.5 scoring margin. In their ECC opener, Mercy fell to Queens College 72-68.
 
Senior Joseph Pope leads the Mavericks with 17.3 points per game thus far, ranking him fifth in the conference. Pope is shooting 48.4% from the field, connecting on 45 of 93 shots.
 
Swingman Khiry Gordon has been a defensive standout for Mercy by blocking 15 shots and making 13 steals to lead the Mavericks in both categories. Gordon, who has made three starts, is also averaging 6.8 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game.
 
UP NEXT
The Redhawks host Thruway rivals, Daemen College, in non-conference action this Tuesday at 7pm before traveling to the University of the District of Columbia for a game against the Firebirds on Saturday, Jan. 15.
