ROCHESTER, N.Y. (December 7, 2012) – The Women's Basketball team opens their East Coast Conference portion of the schedule tomorrow afternoon at 2pm at home against the Mavericks of Mercy College.
The game is a part of the Silent Night promotion as fans will stay silent until the Redhawks score their 6
th point.
TICKETS
Tickets for the game are general admission and cost only $3. Students, Faculty, and Staff of Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary are free with a valid College ID.
One ticket is valid for both the women's game at 2pm and the men's game at 6pm.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (5-2/0-0 ECC)
The Redhawks come into the game having gone 2-1 in the annual Wendy's College Classic last week. After falling to William Smith College in the opening round, the team reeled off wins against Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College in the consolation games.
Senior forward
Brittany Williams is averaging 12.7 points per game for the Redhawks through seven games. Williams is shooting 49.3% from the field while shooting a respectable 37.5% from beyond the arc.
Freshman
Samantha Courtney leads the NCCAA in both total blocks (23) and blocks per game (3.3). The forward also leads the team with a 57.4% shooting percentage and is second on the team with 12.1 points per game.
SCOUTING MERCY (0-4/0-1 ECC)
Mercy is searching for their first win of the season after dropping their first four games of the season. In their last game, the Mavericks fell to Queens College 82-43 in their conference opener.
Senior Aysha Williams leads Mercy in scoring with 14.3 points per game after posting 57 points through four games.
The Mavericks have been solid from the free-throw line as they are averaging 65% from the charity stripe. Amber Harrison is shooting 91.7% at the line while Williams is a respectable 84.6%.
MarQuesha Moore is averaging 6.3 rebounds per games for Mercy. As a team, the Mavericks are being out-rebounded 212 to 119 on the season.
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan will travel to the University of the District of Columbia next Saturday for a 3pm game in the nation's capital.
The team will then break for the holidays and return to the court with road games at the University of Bridgeport on Thursday, Jan. 3 and St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, Jan. 5.
