WES MIFFLIN, Pa. (February 11, 2012) – The Men's Basketball team fell to the Point Park University Pioneers this evening in a back and forth game, 94-85.
In a valiant effort, the Raiders were unable to earn the series sweep against the high scoring Pioneers.
The Raiders led in numerous categories as the visitors won the turnover battle 10 to 11. The Raiders also shot the ball better, making nearly 47% of their shots compared to the Pioneers' 39.3%.
The visitors also out-rebounded the Pioneers 43 to 42.
With 5:57 remaining,
Patrick Downer would give the Raiders their last lead of the game after hitting a lay-up to make it 75-74.
A total of five Raiders scored in double figures, led by Downer's 24 points to go along with his 15 rebounds.
Herbert Alexander added 15 points coming off the bench while
Alif Bland chipped in 14 points and blocked five shots.
William Kemp-Harris scored 13 points and hauled in 9 rebounds. Freshman
Mike Stone added 11 points.
T.J. Heatherington led all scorers with 36 points after going a perfect 21 for 21 from the free throw line.
The Raiders fall to 8-17 overall and 4-6 in the American Mideast Conference.
The Raiders are back in action on Tuesday evening when they host Walsh University. Tip-off is set for 8:00pm. Fans are encouraged to wear to red in support of the team's senior players. The senior class will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
