ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 14, 2012) – The Men's Basketball team fell to the Walsh University Cavaliers this evening on Senior Night, 66-51.
The Raiders celebrated the team's two seniors,
Alif Bland and
Larry Ritter, in a pre-game ceremony.
In the first half, the home team was able to keep things close as the Cavaliers held a 37-30 lead going into the locker room after having lead by as much as 11 in the half.
In the second half, the Raiders continued to pressure the conference leaders.
With 9:46 left,
Daniel Aiello made a shot from under the basket, cutting the Cavalier lead to just 48-46.
Walsh would extend the lead to 12 when Ryan Vanderhorst hit a trey to make it a 58-46 ball game with 7:35 left on the clock. The Cavaliers would hold on the lead the rest of way, for their 21
st win of the season.
The Raiders were led by
Mike Stone and
William Kemp-Harris, who each had 12 points in the game.
Alif Bland chipped in 10 points for the home team.
Vandervhorst was a perfect 5 of 5 from three-point range for the Cavliers, finishing with a game-high 19 points.
As a team, the Raiders were cold from the charity stripe, hitting 1 of 10.
The loss drops the Raiders to 8-18 overall and 4-7 in the American Mideast Conference.
The Raiders close out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to face Wilberforce University at 4pm.
