Deamen Gets By Raiders in AMC Semi-Final

AMHERST, N.Y. (February 21, 2012) – The Men's Basketball team lost to the Deamen College Wildcats in the American Mideast Conference Tournament semi-finals, 65-45.

The Wildcats advance to the AMC Tournament final on Saturday when they host Wilberforce University. Wilberforce defeated Point Park earlier in the evening 91-76 in the other semi-final.

The Raiders scored a quick six points to start the game, but fell behind with under eight minutes remaining in the first half after Devon Dawson hit a jumper, giving the home team a 19-15 lead, capping off a 19-9 run for the Wildcats.

It was all Daemen the rest of the first half, as the Wildcats out-scored the Raiders 20-7 over the last seven minutes of the half.

Going into the locker room, the Raiders were held to 8 of 22 from the field, connecting on only 36.4% of their chances.

In the second half, the Wildcats continued to stifle the Raiders offense as they held the visitors to under 35% shooting from the field. The Wildcats also controlled the boards, out-rebounding the Raiders 44 to 29.

Senior Alif Bland led the Raiders with a game-high 14 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Patrick Downer chipped in 11 points for the visitors.

Daemen's Dom Mazzocchi led the Wildcats with 11 points.

With the loss the Raiders finish the season with an overall record of 8-20.
