HOUGHTON, N.Y. (February 7, 2012) – The Women's Basketball team defeated the Houghton College Highlanders this evening 54-46.
The Raiders have now won five straight games after losing to Point Park University on January 21.
The Raiders trailed the Highlanders for most of the first half and for nearly seven minutes of the second half until
Sarah Child tied the game after hitting a jump shot with 13:23 remaining to tie the score 34-34.
The visitors would go on an 18-2 run during that stretch to open up a 44-36 lead with less than eight minutes left on the clock after being down 34-26.
Child led the Raiders with 18 points after hitting 9 of 18 from the field.
Bianca Jones chipped in 12 points to go along with 5 rebounds.
Carneisha Henry led the team with 11 rebounds after hauling in 10 defensive boards.
The Highlanders were led by Jennifer Hudson's 18 points.
The Raiders improve to 17-8 overall and 7-3 in the American Mideast Conference.
The team will continue their road trip this weekend when they head to Pittsburgh to take on Carlow University on Friday evening and then Point Park University on Saturday afternoon.
