California Baptist Down Raiders by Three Points

WINONA LAKE, Ind. (March 16, 2012) – The Women's Basketball team ended the 2011-12 season with a 69-66 loss to the California Baptist University Lancers this afternoon in a consolation game of the NCCAA National Championships.

The Raiders, which led by as many as seven points coming out of halftime, were unable to hold the lead as the Lancers were able to put away their second chance opportunities down the stretch.

The Lancers' Jasmine Beverly hauled in a record setting 22 rebounds in the game. Beverly's 22 rebounds (13 offensive, 9 defensive) set an NCCAA Tournament single game record. As a team, the Raiders were out-rebounded 52 to 49.

The two seniors Sarah Child and Bianca Jones, playing in their final game for the Raiders led the team with 19 and 13 points respectively. Jones finished with a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds. The forward also led the team with three blocks.

Freshman Marissa Sell earned her second double-double of the tournament after scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Lancers saw four players score in double digits, with Beverly leading the way with a game-high 24 points. Brittany
Lewis added 14 points for the NCAA Division II team.

With the loss, the Raiders finish the season with a record of 21-14. The Raiders have now won at least 20 games the last two seasons.

The NCCAA All-East Region teams will be announced Monday morning.
