ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 17, 2012) – The Women's Lacrosse lost their inaugural home opener to the visiting Elmira College Soaring Eagles this afternoon, 18-12.

The Raiders matched their season high of 12 goals, but were unable to hold Elmira's offense in check in the first half as the Soaring Eagles scored 11 goals, including the first four goals of the game.

The Raiders would respond late in the first half, scoring three straight to make it an 8-5 lead for the visitors with 9:26 left in the half with goals from Vanessa Sell and Theresa Catteau#.

Coming out of halftime, Elmira would score six of the next eight goals to take control of the game after leading 11-6 at the break.

Sell would score four of her seven goals in the second half, but it was too little for the Raiders as they struggled to create enough opportunities in the offensive third of the field.

In goal, Stephanie McClure made five saves in the game, playing all 60 minutes for the Raiders.

Alison Kendall scored three goals off of just five shots for the Raiders. Catteau finished the game with two goals and an assist.

Emlira's Meghan Pass led the visitors with a game-high eight goals and also notched one assist.

The loss drops the Raiders to a record of 1-3 through four games.

The team will hit the road to take on Wells College on Monday at 4:00pm.
