ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (April 10, 2012) – The Men's Lacrosse team fell to the Dominican College Chargers, 11-9 this afternoon.

The Raiders, falling behind early, were forced to play catch-up in the first half and went into the break trailing the Chargers, 7-4.

Coming out of halftime, the visitors managed to tie things up at seven apiece after the Raiders scored three straight, including the tying goal by David Smith with just 2:36 into the period.

Dominica, however, would score the next four goals and held the Raiders to just two goals in the fourth period to secure the team's first win of the season.

The Raiders were led again by Smith, who had a game-high five goals and now has 26 goals in the team's inaugural season.

Anthony Nucci Lauria was dominant on face offs by winning 15 of 23 from the spot, scored one goal, and added an assist.

Felix DeClercq, RJ Macks, and Sean Cone all scored one goal for the Raiders while Craig Petit assisted on four goals.

Matt Hamilton was solid between the pipes by making 11 saves in the game.

As a team, the Raiders won the ground ball battle 38 to 30 as Nucci Lauria picked up 11 groundballs.

One glaring stat is the Raiders were unable to take advantage of the six penalties by the Chargers, going 0 for 6 in man up opportunities in the second half.

With the loss, the Raiders fall to 2-7 and have yet to win a road game.

The team will be at home this Friday when they host SUNY Canton at 6pm.
