ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 14, 2012) –Aelexa Antoni and
Kendall Havener led the Redhawks to their first ever East Coast Conference match this evening, defeating the visiting Dowling College Golden Lions in five sets.
The match was the conference opener for both teams and the first home conference win for any Roberts Wesleyan team this season.
Havener led the Redhawks with a team high 17 kills of off 31 attempts to lift Roberts Wesleyan past a Dowling side that has won four straight. Antoni also had a solid night, getting 16 kills off of 40 attempts to go along with 9 digs. Senior
Gisela Ocasio chipped in 14 kills in addition to her 13 digs.
Jordan Wilson added 11 kills on the night.
Dowling's Bethany Shepard finished with a match high 19 kills and notched 11 digs for the Golden Lions, who are now 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the ECC.
With the win, the Redhawks improve to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the ECC.
The team is back in action tomorrow at noon when they host NCCAA East Region rivals, Houghton College in the Voller Athletic Center.
