Women's Soccer Extend Win Streak to Five Games

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 15, 2012) – The Women's Soccer team extended their winning streak to five games this afternoon by defeating Campbellsville (Ky.) University 3-2 at Mount Vernon Nazarene's Lady Cougar Classic.

Ellie Swan scored her first goal of the season to open up the scoring in the 11th minute off a pass from Brittany Kinmond. Branna Tata would make it a 2-0 game six minutes later off of another assist from Kinmond.

After Campbellsville got on the board in the 54th minute with a goal from Cassie Yannelli, senior Vanessa Sell would score the Redhawks' final goal in the 77th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Breanna Maggio picked up another win between the pipes after making five saves on the day.

Both teams let it fly in the game as Campbellsville edged the Redhawks in shots 15 to 13. Both teams had two corner kicks apiece.

With the win, the Redhawks improve to 6-2 on the season and are off until Friday when they host Mercy College at 5pm for their conference opener.
