Volleyball Visits Daemen Tonight in Non-Conference Action

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 25, 2012) – The Volleyball team will look to pick up a non-conference road win tonight when they take on the Daemen College Wildcats in Amherst at 7pm.

The Redhawks are looking to exact some revenge from last season as Daemen won all three matches, including the American Mideast Conference semi-final match. Two of the three matches were five set affairs.

SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (5-6/1-1 ECC)
The Redhawks come into the match having lost to the University of Bridgeport in three sets at home on Saturday. The first set of the match was most likely the toughest as Bridgeport edged Roberts Wesleyan 29-27.
 
Senior hitter Alexa Antoni has had a remarkable season, leading the team with 148 kills, averaging more slightly more than three kills per set. Antoni is also second on the team in blocks with 21 (1 solo, 20 assists).
 
Freshman Maggi Concannon has 406 set assists this season to go along with 78 digs and 15 blocks.
 
Senior Gisela Ocasio has been solid all-around with 113 kills, 19 aces, and 130 digs.

SCOUTING DAEMEN (10-5)
The Wildcats, who are competing in the USCAA this season as they begin their transition to the NCAA Division II, come into tonight having won six straight and nine of their last 11 matches.
 
Senior Joanna Fretthold (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) leads Daemen with 132 kills, averagins  2.75 kills per set. Fretthold is also second on the team with 160 digs.
 
UP NEXT
The Redhawks will play two matches on the road this coming Saturday when they visit New York Institute of Technology at 10am before squaring off with LIU-Post at 2pm.  The team returns home next Friday (Oct. 5) when they host Mercy College at 7pm and the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday (Oct. 6)  at 1pm.
