SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 4, 2012) – Le Moyne's Christie Morano scored a hat trick to sink the Redhawks, 5-2 in a non-conference match-up this afternoon.
Morano, who now has five goals through two games scored twice in the first fifteen minutes of the game to put the visiting Redhawks in an early hole, which proved difficult pull out of.
After trailing 4-0, the Redhawks would find their first goal from
Mandi Hochheimer in the 70
th minute after she headed home a ball from about 12 yards out, which was sent in from Brittany Kinmond. Six minutes later, sophomore
Jackie Corbett notched her first goal of the season after finding the ball inside the 18 yard box off a failed corner kick to make it 5-2.
In goal,
Breanna Maggio faced a barrage of shots, stopping six after the Dolphins put up 11 shots on goal and 22 shots altogether.
With the loss, the Redhawks fall to 1-2 and will prepare to host Rio Grande (Ohio) University on Friday and Spring Arbor (Mich.) University on Saturday.
