Women's Soccer Set to Host Redhawk Classic

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 7, 2012) – The Women's Soccer team is set to host the Redhawk Classic this weekend with three teams coming to campus for a series of four games.

Tonight's match-up is the home opener for the Redhawks.

The hosts will take on Rio Grande (Ohio) University this evening at 7:15pm and will go up against Spring Arbor (Mich.) University tomorrow at the same time. both Rio Grande and Spring Arbor are members of the NAIA.

Future East Coast Conference rivals, Daemen College is the fourth team at the Redhawk Classic and they will play Spring Arbor tonight and Rio Grande on Saturday. Both of those games are scheduled for 5pm.

SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (1-2-0/0-0-0 ECC)
The Redhawks fell 5-2 on the road earlier in the week at Le Moyne College after the Dolphins' Christie Morano scored three goals.

Junior defender Mandi Hochheimer has started the season with three goals, an impressive feat as she has been able to find her way out of the defensive third on several occasions. Joining Hochheimer atop the points leaders is Brittany Houghton. The freshman scored two goals in their 5-1 win at Malone (Ohio) Univeristy last Saturday.

SCOUTING RIO GRANDE (1-2-0/0-0-0 MSC)
Rio Grande is no stranger to Roberts Wesleyan as the Red Storm had been members of the former American Mideast Conference before moving to the Mid-South Conference a few years ago.

On Wednesday, the Red Storm picked up their first win of the season after taking down West Liberty (W.Va.) University, 3-1 after being shut out in their previous two games.

Freshman Courtney Young (Ross, Ohio) picked up the game winner against West Liberty as the Red Storm had three different goal-scorers in the win.

SCOUTING SPRING ARBOR (2-0-1/0-0-0 CL)
The undefeated Cougars are picking up right where they left off last season. In 2011, Spring Arbor captured their second consecutive Mid-Central Conference (now known as the Crossroads League) crown.

This season, the Cougars have earned a pair of shutout victories after tying Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College in their season opener.

Spring Arbor is full of offense early this season, outscoring their opponents 8 to1.

The Redhawks will host Mansfield (Pa.) University in a non-conference game next Tuesday (Sep. 11) at home before heading to Ohio to participate in Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Lady Cougar Classic next weekend.
