ROCHESTER. N.Y. (September 8, 2012) - The Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks triumphed over the 8th ranked Spring Arbor (Mich.) University in the final game of the Redhawk Classic. The two teams went head to head after both coming off of wins in Friday's games. It was the Redhawks who bested the Cougars with a score of 2-1.
The Cougars struck first in the 37th minute, putting one past the Redhawks to take a 1-0 lead.
The Redhawks would equalize in the 59th minute of the game, however, when forward
Brittany Houghton found the back of the net, bringing Roberts back into the game.
With the minutes dwindling down, it looked like the match was headed into overtime, but the game winner came with a high shot over the Spring Arbor goalie's head, sent by Brittany Kinmond with only three minutes left in regulation. This triumphant win sets the Redhawks 3-2 for the season.
The Redhawks plan to keep soaring high with their home game against Mansfield University this Tuesday at 7pm
