Women's Basketball Travels to Take on Bridgeport This Thursday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 2, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team will travel to take on the University of Bridgeport tomorrow in their first game after a lengthy lay-off since Dec. 15.

Both teams are 1-1 in conference play as the Redhawks sit in fourth place in the East Coast Conference standings, one spot higher than Bridgeport.

The game is scheduled for a 5pm tip-off.

SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (6-3/1-1 ECC)
The Redhawks are well rested coming into their first game of the 2013 portion of the schedule. In fact, Roberts Wesleyan has been idle since their 59-56 loss at the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Courtney, along with senior Brittany Williams lead the team in points per game with 11.1. Both players have scored 100 points through nine games.

Despite her reduced scoring this season, senior guard Marissa Bunce has been the team's top distributor with 39 assists. Bunce is averaging 4.3 assists per game, which places her fourth in the East Coast Conference in that category.  Bunce, who surpassed the 1,000 career points mark last season, is averaging 6.9 points per game and leads the team in shooting from three-point range.

Through nine games, the Redhawks hold a +5.4 rebounding margin and average 44.1 boards per game. Courtney leads the team with 7.6 rebounds per game while sophomore Carneisha Henry is right behind with 7.1 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING BRIDGEPORT (6-4/1-1 ECC)
The Purple Knights come into Thursday's contest having suffered two consecutive losses. In their last outing, Bridgeport fell 76-58 to #2-ranked Bently (Mass.) University on Dec. 30.

Through 10 games, Tanisha Carter leads Bridgeport in scoring with 17.9 points per game. The senior forward is second in the ECC in points per game and leads the conference in field goals made.

The Purple Knights are aided by senior forward Priscilla Dodoo and junior guard Aziza Patterson. Dodoo is scoring 15.9 points per game while Patterson is adding 12.3 points per game this season. As a team, Bridgeport is averaging 63.6 points per game.

Bridgeport holds a -6.1 rebounding margin as they are averaging 39.2 rebounds per game. Dodoo leads the Purple Knights with 9.4 boards per game, which put her third best in the ECC thus far this season.
