Women's Basketball Hosts University of Bridgeport Wednesday Evening

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 22, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team hosts the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport Wednesday evening at 6pm.
 
The meeting is the second of the season as the Redhawks came out on top 66-57 in their first meeting on Jan. 3 in Bridgeport, Conn.
 
TICKETS
Tickets are $3 at the door and are valid for both the women's game at 6pm and the men's games, which is scheduled for 8pm. Roberts Wesleyan College/Northeastern Seminary faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid College ID.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (8-7/3-5 ECC)
The Redhawks are looking to bounce back from three-straight losses, dating back to Jan. 12. In their latest outing, Roberts Wesleyan fell to Queens College, 68-55, in Flushing, N.Y. After a close contest, the Redhawks fell behind on a 16-1 run by the Knights mid-way through the second half.
 
Despite their recent road woes, the Redhawks have played well at home and are 5-2 inside the Voller Athletic Center this season.  The last win at home was on Jan. 9 when they upset LIU Post, 76-65. The Pioneers currently sit in fourth place in the ECC standings, just below Bridgeport.
 
Brittany Williams continued her solid play with a 21-point effort against Queens on Saturday. The senior is averaging 11.7 points per game and is shooting 43.1% from the field and a respectable 33.3% from three-point range. Williams is also shooting well at the free-throw line with a 74% free-throw percentage.
 
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan is shooting well and have a 40.6% field goal percentage that places them second overall in the conference. The team is also second in assists with 16.1 per game. Marissa Bunce leads the team with 55 assists this season with an average of 3.7 assists per game.
 
SCOUTING BRIDGEPORT (10-6/5-3 ECC)
The Purple Knights have won four of their last five games since falling to Roberts Wesleyan. Their lone loss came against an undefeated NYIT squad on Jan. 12.
 
Bridgeport is averaging 65.8 points per game through 16 games this season which is fourth best in the ECC. Leading the way is senior forward Tanisha Carter's 17.4 points per game. Joining Carter in double-figures is Priscille Dodoo and Aziza Patterson with 16.7 and 13.2 points per game respectively.
 
On the boards, Bridgeport is averaging 38.8 rebounds per game while their opponents average 42.3 per game. Dodoo is averaging 9.3 rebounds per game to lead the Purple Knights in that category.
 
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan is home this Saturday when they host the University of the District of Columbia at 2pm. The Redhawks narrowly lost to the Firebirds in their first meeting on Dec. 15 by the score of 59-56.
