Men's Basketball Falls on the Road to Bridgeport, 84-67

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (January 3, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team suffered its first conference loss of the season, falling to the University of Bridgeport, 84-67.

The Redhawks went cold in the first half, shooting just 32.2% from the field after connecting on just 10 of 31 shots.  Bridgeport, however, posted a 54.8% shooting percentage in the first 20 minutes as they built a 42-27 lead at the break.

Senior guard William Kemp-Harris scored a season-high 14 points for the visitors after going 3 of 4 from beyond the arc and 4 of 6 from the field.

Fellow guard Mike Stone also notched 14 points in the loss, shooting 50% from the field.

Senior Devin Grimes earned his eighth double-double of the season after scoring 11 points and hauling in 13 rebounds for the Redhawks.

As a team, Roberts Wesleyan out-rebounded the Purple Knights 41 to 37, but gave the ball away 23 times as Bridgeport committed just 18 turnovers.

The loss marks the Redhawks first loss in East Coast Conference play after starting our 2-0. Overall, Roberts Wesleyan is now 5-6 on the season.

Roberts Wesleyan will have a day off before visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 3pm. The game is the part of the ECC's “Doubleheader of the Week” and will be streamed live at www.eccsports.tv.
