ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 30, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team visits Mercy College tomorrow evening for a 7:30pm match-up.
The Redhawks defeated Mercy 84-79 in overtime in their first meeting of the season on Dec. 8 at home in the Voller Athletic Center.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (6-12/3-7 ECC)
The Redhawks picked up a win on Saturday, defeating the University of the District of Columbia, 71-69.
Mike Stone hit a three-pointer with just 13 seconds remaining to lift Roberts Wesleyan past the Firebirds.
Stone has been effective from long range all season as he is second in the East Coast Conference with a 44.1% three-point field goal percentage. The sophomore leads the conference with a total of 41 three's.
Despite sitting at eighth place in the conference standings, the Redhawks are fourth in scoring with 1,218 points. The team is also third in the ECC with a rebound margin average of 0.7.
SCOUTING MERCY (1-16/0-9 ECC)
Mercy is still searching for their first conference win of the season after having dropped their first nine contests. The team's lone win came on the road against Chestnut Hill College as Mercy came out on top, 79-74.
Senior forward Joseph Pope has been the leading scorer for the Mavericks this season, averaging 18 points per game. The swingman is shooting 47.3% from the field and 32.4% from beyond the arc. Pope is also averaging 6.2 rebounds per game.
Fellow forward Kirk Bailey leads the team with 8.1 rebounds per game through 16 games.
As a team, Mercy is averaging 19.1 turnovers per game while forcing 17.4 turnovers by their opponents.

Roberts Wesleyan will take on New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, N.Y. on Saturday. It is the first meeting between the two teams as they will travel to Rochester on Mar. 2.
