DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (January 31, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team fell to Mercy College this evening, 69-57, in East Coast Conference action.

The Redhawks, who are playing without their leading scorer and rebounder due to injury, battled the Mavericks in a close game until Mercy pulled away in the final minutes of the game.

Tyrel Dixon hit one of his three shots from beyond the arc with 7:48 remaining to give the visitors a 47-46 lead.

It would be the home team, however, that found a way to seal the win down the stretch in a game that saw five lead changes.

Dixon led the way for the Redhawks with an 18-point effort after going 7 of 16 from the field and 3 of 4 from long range. The freshman was able to pick up his first double-double of the season after grabbing 10 rebounds.

The forward was solid on defense as well, stealing the ball three times and blocking a shot.

Sophomore guard Mike Stone finished the night with 17 points, connecting on 4 of 9 from three-point range.

Patrick Downer added 10 points and six rebounds to go along with two blocked shots.

As a team, the Redhawks shot just 28.6% from the field while Mercy shot 38.8%.
