Men's Basketball Looks to Rebound Against St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 4, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team is set to square-off against the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.
 
The game is the second of a doubleheader against the two school and will be streamed live as part of the East Coast Conference “Doubleheaders of the Week”.
 
Fans will be able to watch the game that includes live play-by-play and on-screen scoreboard and graphics.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (5-6/2-1 ECC)
The Redhawks were dealt their first conference loss of the season on Thursday evening, falling to the University of Bridgeport, 84-67. Senior swingman Devin Grimes earned his eighth double-double after scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Mike Stone and William Kemp-Harris each scored 14 points.
 
As a team, Roberts Wesleyan is shooting 41.4% from the field, which is good enough to place them third in the ECC.  The Redhawks are also second in the conference in scoring with 754 points through 11 games. Overall, the team is fourth in the ECC with an average of 68.5 points per game.
 
Grimes continues to lead the conference in all rebounding categories as the senior is averaging 13.5 boards per game.
 
Defensively, Tyrel Dixon is fifth in the ECC with 23 steals, but has a league-best nine steals in ECC action.
 
SCOUTING ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (1-9/1-1 ECC)
The Spartans are looking to end a five-game losing skid tomorrow. St. Thomas Aquinas' last win game on Dec. 1 when they defeating conference foe, Dowling College by the score of 82-80.  In their last outing, the Spartans fell to Virginia Union, 72-49.
 
St. Thomas Aquinas is led by senior Justin Brown and freshman T.J. Jones. The two guards are averaging 17.1 and 16.0 points per game respectively. Brown is shooting 41.3% from the field  through the Spartans' first 10 games.
 
Junior forward Omar Kellman leads the Spartans with 7.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, St. Thomas Aquinas is averaging 38.0 rebounds per game.
 
From the free throw line, the Spartans are tops in the ECC in attempts, free throws made, and free throw shooting percentage (67.6%).
 
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan will return home to host LIU Post next Wednesday at 8pm in the Voller Athletic Center.  On Saturday, the Redhawks will host Dowling College for a 4pm match-up.
