SPARKILL, N.Y. (January 5, 2013) – The Men's Basketball dropped an 85-73 decision to St. Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon in East Coast Conference action.

The Redhawks, who were down by 10 points midway through the second half, cut the Spartans lead to just three when Devin Grimes made a lay-up with 5:20 left to play to make it a 66-33 ball game. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the visitors would get as the Spartans solidified their lead down the stretch.

Grimes was again the leader for Roberts Wesleyan, finishing with 25 points and 19 rebounds. Grimes shot 9 of 19 from the field for a 47.4% shooting percentage.

Freshman Tyrel Dixon added 15 points in the loss to go along with nine boards in the game.

As a team, the Redhawks show just 37.8% from the field and a paltry 44% from the free-throw line. At the stripe, Roberts Wesleyan made just 11 of their 25 attempts. Conversely, St. Thomas Aquinas shot 45.5% from the field and 79.4% at the line.

The loss marks the first time Roberts Wesleyan has lost back-to-back contests this season. Overall, the Redhawks fall to 5-7 and 2-2 in conference play.

On Wednesday evening, Roberts Wesleyan will host LIU Post in the Voller Athletic Center at 8pm.

Tickets for the game are $3 at the door. Roberts Wesleyan College/Northeastern Seminary faculty, staff, and students are free with valid ID.
