Men's Basketball Takes on LIU Post Wednesday Night

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 8, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team hosts the LIU Post Pioneers this Wednesday evening in an East Coast Conference match-up.

Admission is $3 at the door and is valid for both the women's game at 6pm and the men's game at 8pm. Roberts Wesleyan College/Northeastern Seminary faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid College ID.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (5-7/2-2 ECC)
Coming into Wednesday's match-up, the Redhawks find themselves having lost two-straight games for the first time this season. After falling to the University of Bridgeport last Thursday, Roberts Wesleyan lost 85-73 to St. Thomas Aquinas College.
 
Senior forward Devin Grimes continued his solid form last week as he earned two additional double-doubles. Grimes now leads all rebounders in the NCAA Division II with his 14.0 rebounds per game average. The senior is also leads the team with 16.8 points per game.
 
Mike Stone is shooting 43.8% from long range thorough the team's first 11 games, which is good enough to place him third in the conference.
 
Freshman forward Tyrel Dixon is pacing the Redhawks with 26 steals in addition to averaging 11.2 points per game.
 
SCOUTING LIU POST (8-3/3-0 ECC)
After dropping their first three games of the season, the Pioneers have won an ECC-best eight straight games.
 
The Pioneers are led by senior Tobin Carberry. The guard is averaging 18.4 points per game and is shooting 45.7% from the field. From three-point range, Carberry is shooting a respectable 34.0%.
 
As a team, LIU Post is shooting 46.4% from the field and 64.3% from the free-throw line.
 
On the boards, junior forward Vaughn Allen leads the Pioneers with 9.6 rebounds per game. The team is averaging 42.5 rebounds per game and holds a +8.3 rebound margin against their opponents.
 
UP NEXT
The Redhawks host Dowling College this Saturday at 4pm in the Voller Athletic Center. The game is the second of a doubleheader between the two schools as the women's game tips-off at 2pm.
