Women's Soccer Set for Challenging Weekend

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 17, 2013) – The Women's Soccer team returns home this weekend as they host a pair of talented conference opponents.
 
On Friday, the Redhawks host #16 University of Bridgeport at 5pm before Dowling College visits on Sunday at 3pm.

All three teams currently sit no worse than fourth place in the East Coast Conference standings.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (7-3-1, 4-1-0 ECC)
The Redhawks come into this weekend's challenging schedule having earned their first draw of the season when they tied Franklin Pierce (N.H.) University, 2-2, on Monday. Brittany Foster scored twice in the span of three minutes late in the game to earn the draw on the road.
 
Foster, a senior, now has nine goals on the year and is just one goal shy of matching her season total from last year's campaign. She ranks second in the East Coast Conference in both goals scored and points.
 
Freshman forward Bella Mitrevski continues her impressive debut season as she leads the conference in assists with a total of seven while also scoring seven times.
 
SCOUTING BRIDGEPORT (12-1-0, 5-0-0 ECC)
The Purple Knights enter the weekend ranked 16th in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II National Poll. The team actually fell one spot from last week's poll despite picking up a 2-0 win at Philadelphia University.
 
Up top, Danielle Puddefoot leads the Purple Knights with 19 points (8 goals, 3 assists) through 13 games. Flo Gamby and Tabe Rauschenberger each have 10 points for Bridgeport this season.
 
In all, a total of 10 players have earned points for the Purple Knights thus far as eight players have scored at least one goal.
 
Goalkeeper Julia Hansson has led the team between the pipes with 34 saves and 0.62 goals against average.
 
SCOUTING DOWLING (8-2-1, 3-2 ECC)
The Golden Lions has won four of their last five games. Their most recent game was a 3-2 win at home against Pace in non-conference action. In fact, Dowling is nearly perfect in non-conference play with a record of 5-0-1.
 
Leading Dowling on offense this season is junior Lindsey Thompson. The forward has a team-high 19 points (8 goals, 3 assists) for the Golden Lions thus far.
 
Between the pipes, junior goalkeeper Melissa Guglielmo has logged the majority of the minutes while earning three of the team's four shutouts.

Roberts Wesleyan continues their home stand next week as they host Lock Haven (Pa.) University on Wednesday and the University of Maine-Ft. Kent on Saturday in non-conference play.
