Women's Soccer Edges Lock Haven, 2-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 23, 2013) – The Women's Soccer team defeated Lock Haven University this evening, 2-1, in non-conference action.

The win is Roberts Wesleyan's ninth of the season and eighth win at home.

The visiting Eagles got on the board first when Madison Taylor managed to slot a short shot to the back of the net after Redhawks' goalkeeper Marissa Sell was unable to gain possession of the ball while scrambling on the ground.

A mere 14 seconds later, Brittany Houghton tied the score after she played give and go with Bella Mitrevski in front of the goal.

After going into the locker room tied 1-1, Ellie Swan broke the stalemate when she poked a shot through a crowd in the 6-yard box, beating the Eagles goalkeeper Dana Wozniak in the 62nd minute.

Both teams managed to shoot the ball 15 times, but it was the visitors who had the better chances. In all, the Eagles had eight shots on goal.

Marissa Sell earned the win after notching a total of seven saves in the game for the Redhawks.

The win improved Roberts Wesleyan's overall record to 9-4-1 on the year as they prepare for their final home game this Saturday when they host Maine-Ft. Kent at 2pm.
