Rochester, N.Y. (October 26, 2013) – Women's Soccer tied University of Maine at Fort Kent in 2 rounds of overtime this afternoon.
This afternoon was Roberts last scheduled home game; it was also the senior game. Five seniors were honored;Â
Kristina Roberts a defender, Â
Briana Tata a midfielder, Â
Mandi Hochheimer a defender, Â Â
Brittany Foster a forward and
Anna Dominick a forward. Families and friends were in attendance to support them.
Brittany Houghton scored Roberts lone goal in the end of the first half. Maine-Ft Kent was quick to answer in the first minute of play in the second half. Marie Laurence Monta scored after beating Roberts defense and going 1 v 1 with goalie
Marissa Sell. Roberts offense peppered the Bengals goalie forcing her to make 12 saves. The Redhawks outshot the Bengals in both shots on goal and total shots. In the end Roberts could not finish.
Play was competitive, and the Redhawks were able to use their deep bench to supply the field with fresh players.
Briana Tata played well and kept control of the game in the center, she totaled 7 shots on goal. Roberts defense held the Bengals at Bay for the majority of the time, the Bengals had 0 corner kicks compared to Roberts 6. Â As the game went into overtime play became more physical, several players were injured.
This is the second tie for Roberts, their overall record is now 9-4-2. The Redhawks are on the road for the rest of conference play.  Roberts  plays St Thomas Aquinas next November 1
st at 12:00pm.
