Volleyball Loses to Bridgport in Hard Fought Contest

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 4, 2013) – The Volleyball team put up a hard fought match, but ended up falling 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 21-25, 22-25) to the University of Bridgeport this evening.

The Redhawks managed to take the first set after rallying to win the final nine points of the set after falling behind 24-18.

However, the Purple Knights were able to take controls to win the next three sets to earn the win.

Jordan Wilson had a career night for Roberts Wesleyan by recording a match-high 16 kills off of 33 attempts to finish with a .364 attack percentage. The junior also had two block assists for the Redhawks.

Senior Corey Phillips and freshman Arian Kazmierczak chipped in 12 kills each. Maggie Concannon notched 48 assists as Olivia Zureck had a season-high 24 digs in the match.

Bridgeport's Sarah Rosa finished the night with a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs.

The loss drops Roberts Wesleyan to 4-7 overall and 0-4 in the East Coast Conference.

The Redhawks will look to earn their first conference win tomorrow as they host Dowling College at 12pm inside the Voller Athletic Center.
