SPARKILL, N.Y. (November 1, 2013) – The Women's Soccer team earned a road win as they downed St. Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon, 2-1.
The Redhawks took the lead in the 17
th minute when senior forward Brittant Foster slotted home her 10
th goal of the season.
That lead stood until the 25
th minute as Lindsey Sansone beat Roberts Wesleyan's goalkeeper
Marissa Sell to tie the game 1-1.
Foster then scored her second goal of the game in the 70
th minute after she received a long pass from Sell and chipped the ball of the Spartans' goalkeeper to win the game for the Redhawks.
As a team, the Redhawks outshot St. Thomas Aquinas 16 to 12 despite the Spartans edging the Redhawks 7 to 6 in shots on goal.
In goal, Sell recorded six saves to earn her eight win of the year.
With the two goals, Foster now has 11 goals this season while eclipsing last season's 10-goal effort.
The win improves Roberts Wesleyan to 10-4-2 overall and 6-2 in East Coast Conference play.
Roberts Wesleyan is off tomorrow as they prepare to close out the regular season on Sunday when they visit Mercy College at noon.
