Box Score Houghton, N.Y. (November 23, 2013) - The men's Basketball team notched a win against Houghton College this evening in non conference play. The final score was 93 - 74.
The game started with a foul by Houghton, putting
Patrick Downer on the line; he was able to make both shots to give Roberts the lead. Downer totaled 15 points for the game. Roberts Kept control of the game for the most part losing the lead just once.
Houghton overcame Roberts in the middle of the first half with a 3 pointer from Houghton's Brandon Camacho to take the lead by one (18-17). Camecho hit another field goal to put Houghton ahead by three The Redhawks quickly responded, Isaac Medieros hit a 2 point shot to lessen the gap to 1.With a steal by
Dylan Gratch Medieros was able to score again to take the lead 21 -20. Roberts was able to keep the lead throughout the rest of the game.
Isaac Medeiros was a stand out for the Redhawks, he lead the team by totaling 30 points and 15 rebounds, he also had 3 assists and 1 steal. Â
Tyrel Dixon was integral to Roberts offense by totaling 8 assists while only allowing 1 turnover.
Roberts was able to capitalize off Houghton's mistakes, resulting in 24 points off turnovers. As a team Roberts shot 48.6% from the field, 47.1% from the 3 point line and 68.4% on free throws.
This win advances Roberts record to 2-1, the Redhawks play again Tuesday November 26th at home. They take on Conference rival Daemen College at 8pm.
