Men's Basketball Rally Falls Short Against Daemen, 77-72

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 26, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team dropped a close game in overtime to rivals Daemen College, 77-72, this evening in their East Coast Conference opener.

The Redhawks chipped away at a ten-point deficit over the final six minutes before tying the game with 32 seconds remaining in regulation when Tyrel Dixon hit a layup, evening the score at 68-68.

However, the Wildcats were the better team in the extra period, out-scoring Roberts Wesleyan 9-4, to earn the win.

Several players shined for the home team, including Isaac Medeiros, who scored a game-high 23 points and earned the double-double with 18 rebounds.

Senior forward Patrick Downer netted 19 points after hitting four three-pointers, two of which came in the Redhawks' rally down the stretch.

Tyrel Dixon also put up solid numbers with 15 points and 16 rebounds for Roberts Wesleyan.

As a team, the Redhawks shot 33.3% from the field compared to Daemen's 40.0% field goal shooting. Robers Wesleyan did out-rebound the Wildcats with 50 rebounds to Daemen's 40.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in the ECC.

They now prepare for the Wendy's College Class, which begins Wednesday, Dec. 4.
