AMHERST, N.Y. (November 8, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team dropped their season opener this evening, 59-48, against Goldey-Beacom (Del.) College in the Knee Center of WNY Classic at Daemen Classic.
The Lightning controlled the play for most of the game as there were only three lead changes in the game with Goldey-Beacom taking the lead for good when Parris Ridgeway-Higgs hit a three-pointer with 6:20 left in the first half.
For Roberts Wesleyan, newcomer 
Isaac Medeiros led all scorers with 14 points to go along with a 10 rebound effort in his debut. The junior forward was 7 of 16 from the field while notching two blocks.
Senior forward 
Patrick Downer finished the night with nine points and six rebounds and a steal.
From three-point range, 
Jordan McBride went 2 of 3 enroute to scoring a total of eight points.
Goldey-Beacom was led by Ridgeway-Higgs and Will Williams who each scored 12 points.
As a team, the Redhawks shot 38.5% from the field while being out-rebounded 38 to 36. However, Roberts Wesleyan shot 33.3% from beyond the arc after going 5 of 15.
The team will look to even their record tomorrow afternoon when they face Ohio Valley (W.Va.) University at 2pm.
