ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 8, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team opens the 2013-14 season on the road this weekend as they compete at Daemen College's Knee Center of WNY Classic.
The Redhawks take on Goldey-Beacom (Del.) College this evening at 6pm before squaring-off against Ohio Valley (W.Va.) University tomorrow afternoon at 2pm.

Admission to the games are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and visiting students (w/valid college ID).
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (0-0, 0-0 ECC)
Head coach 
Rob McCoy returns for his 12
th season at the helm after sending his squad to the NCCAA National Championships a year ago. McCoy is the programs longest tenured coach and has amassed 137 wins over that span.
 
Roberts Wesleyan returns several key players from last season including forwards 
Patrick Downer and 
Tyrel Dixon. Downer, a senior, averaged 9.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Redhawks last season.  He also led the team in blocks with 18 a year ago.
 
Dixon, a sophomore, led Roberts Wesleyan in scoring in 2012-13 with a total of 373 points while averaging 12.4 points per game. Before being named to the East Coast Conference All-Rookie Team, Dixon shot 48.2% from the field while hauling in an average of 5.9 rebounds per game.
 
SCOUTING GOLDEY-BEACOM (0-0, 0-0 CACC)
The Lighting are hoping  to improve upon an 8-18 record last season. Head coach Chuck Hammond enters his ninth season where he has won more than 100 games.
 
Leading Goldey-Beacom on the court this season will be captains Jarrel Lane and Will Williams.
 
Lane, a junior guard, is a transfer from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where he started 16 of 17 games his freshman season and averaged nearly two points per game over his two seasons at the Division I program.
 
Williams, who is a senior forward, averaged 5.4 points per game in 2012-13 and ranked third on the team with a 44.4% field goal percentage while shooting nearly 70% from the free-throw line.
 
SCOUTING OHIO VALLEY (0-0, 0-0 G-MAC)
Despite finishing their final year in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 3-26 record, the Fighting Scots have reason to be optimistic about this season. Fifth-year head coach Mike Snell returns 13 players from last season.
 
Among those returners are junior forward Osvaldas Gaizauskas, a native of Silute, Lithuania. Last season the 6'7" big man was second on the team in scoring with 8.8 points per game while averaging nearly three rebounds per game.  He shot 41.0% from the field for the Fighting Scots while finishing third in scoring with 220 points.

Roberts Wesleyan has some time to prepare for their next game as they wait until Nov. 23 to take on Houghton College on the road for an 8pm game.
 
Their first home game is three days later when they entertain Daemen College at 8pm in their East Coast Conference opener.
