OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (December 14, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team escaped with a come-from-behind 69-68 win on the road at New York Institute of Technology this afternoon.

Sophomore Tyrel Dixon proved to be the hero late in the game when after hitting one of his three shots from beyond the arc to tie the game. After being fouled when taking the shot, the forward converted the four-point play to give the Redhawks the lead with just two seconds on the clock.

In all, Dixon poured in a season-high 24 points  after shooting a remarkable 9 of 12 from the field,  a perfect 3 of 3 from long range, and 3 of 4 at the free-throw line.

He also grabbed 11 rebounds while recording four steals for the visiting Redhawks.

The game was competitive throughout, evidenced by the seven lead changes and being tied eight times. The home standing Bears had the largest lead of the game at 10 points at the 16:49 mark in the second half.

Roberts Wesleyan's largest lead was just four points at the start of the game.

Isaac Medeiros also had a solid day as he chipped in 16 points after hitting 8 of 14 from the field as well as blocking two shots while logging just 18 minutes.

Senior forward Patrick Downer also scored in double-figures with 11 points for the Redhawks.

With the win, Roberts Wesleyan improves to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the East Coast Conference.

The team is back in action Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm when they visit LIU Post.
