Men's Basketball Lose on the Road to LIU Post, 78-66

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (December 15, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team suffered a 78-66 setback at LIU Post in East Coast Conference action this afternoon.

Roberts Wesleyan was tough last in the second half, making it fairly close down the stretch. After trailing by as much as 21 points on several occasions, the Redhawks clawed their way back when they were behind by as few as five points.

With 3:38 reamining, William Bromirski hit a three-pointer, making it a 66-61 Pioneers lead. That was as close as Roberts Wesleyan would get as LIU Post, who remain undefeated in ECC play, was able to stretch their lead to get the win.

Bromirski was effective for the Redhawks, scoring a game-high 23 points to go along with four steals and three assists. He was 3 of 9 from long range and a solid 8 of 11 at the free-throw line.

Junior forward Isaac Medeiros put up good numbers after earning the double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Fellow forward Patrick Downer scored 20 points after going 7 of 15 from the field and 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.

As a team, the Redhawks shot 32.3% from the field as LIU Post was better at an even 40%.

The Pioneers had a balanced scoring attacked as five players scored in double-figures with P.J. Torres leading the way with 21 points.

The loss drops the Redhawks to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

They will hit the road again next weekend with games a Queens College on Friday, Dec. 20 at 7:30pm and Molloy College and Sunday at 2:30pm.
