Men's Basketball Pushes Past Queens

Box Score Flushing N.Y. (December 20, 2013) –  The Men's Basketball team picked up a win this evening on the road against Queens College with a final score of 70-63.

Herbert Alexander's layup put the Redhawks on the board. Roberts remained in the lead for the majority of the first half. With about six minutes left in the half, Queens went on a 6- 0 run to put Roberts in jeopardy of loosing the lead.  Queens Junior guard Ronald Washington hit a 3 pointer to put Queens ahead with less than three minutes on the clock.  The Redhawks fought back and were able to end the half in the lead, as William Bromirski made a 3 point shot with 27 seconds to go.

Bromirski has been key for Roberts; he scored a game high 15 points shooting 44% from long range. He lalso ed the Redhawks in points (23)  last weekend against LIU Post.  

Roberts had an exciting second half, closely training Queens for most of it. The gap never exceeded 5 points until the last few minutes of the game. The Redhawks went on an 8-3 run to close the game 70-63.

A total of five players posted double figures for Roberts. Patrick Downer and Isaac Medeiros both totaled 13 points for Roberts. Medeiros also posted 11 rebounds to earn the double double . He currently leads the ECC in rebounds per game. Tyrel Dixon and Herbert Alexander both added 10 points. Alexander shot 3-5 from the field and went 4-4 on free throws, he also led the Redhawks with 3 assists.
 
As a team the Redhawks shot 46% from the field, 33% on three point attempts and 78% on the line.

This win advances Roberts to 6-4 overall  and 2-2 in the ECC. The Redhawks play again this Sunday at Molloy College at 2:30pm.
