Kissimmee FL (December 5, 2013) - Women's Volleyball played in their first national tournament in Kissimmee Florida today. Roberts was seeded 10th going into the tournament. The Redhawks played in two matches, they faced off with 2 seed Lee University at 12 pm and 7th seed McMurry University at 4.
Roberts faced a hard loss against the number 2 team the final score was 0 - 3 (14-25, 11-25, 26-28) In the first set The Redhawks kept the score close. an tied Lee University at 9, however the Flames took off after that. The second set proved to be a challenge for Roberts, the Redhawks were unable to get off the ground. In the third set Roberts kept it close till the end.
Corey Phillips had early kills assisted by
Maggie Concannon early in the set to get the Redhawks started. throught the set he lead would change 5 times and have 9 tied scores. Roberts rallied to stay in the game late.
Jordan Wilson had a key kill off of Concannon to tie the game at 25, this almost pushed Roberts to the victory, however Lee University was able to push through in the end.
Later that day Roberts faced last year's National Champions, McMurry University. Roberts fell in 5 sets (24-26,18-25, 27-29, 23-25, 12-) This was a tough Loss for the Redhawks, they kept it close throughout.

Judy Schultz and
Corey Phillips all totaled 13 kills for the match, tying for match high. The first set was a constant back and fourth with McMurry winning out in the end. Roberts defense worked hard, Phillips totaled 17 digs, Olivia Zuerck added 13 digs throughout the match. The second set proved difficult for Roberts, they were unable to take the lead once. They bounced back in the third set. The end of the set was close with a lot of lead changes. With the set tied at 27 Havener had a kill off Concannon to push the Redhawks to set point. Concannon totaled 43 assists through the match. Havener and
Anjali Thomson blocked the last attempt by McMurry to win the set. Roberts came from behind to take the fourth set.

Becca Maher. Roberts Started off the 5th set in the lead, they were un able to hold on despite some late efforts.
The Redhawks stay in Kissimmee for their participation in the NCCAA National tournament. They play again tomorrow December 6th at 6pm against Bethel college (6th seed)
