Men's Basketball Drops Close Game Against Dowling

OAKDALE, N.Y. (February 11, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team dropped a close game to Dowling College this evening, 67-61, on the road.

The Redhawks play from behind for most of the second half, but managed to keep things interesting as the score was tied on six occasions in the second half alone.

With just 27 seconds remaining, Herbert Alexander drained a three-pointer to cut the Golden Lions' lead to 64-61. However, Dowling went on to score three free-throws to secure the win in the final moments of the game.

In all, there was a total of 11 lead changes in the game with eight coming in the second half alone.

Tyrel Dixon led the Redhawks with a game-high 21 points after going 9 of 15 from the field. The freshman also solid on defense by stealing the ball three times and blocking one shot.

Mike Stone added 11 points and added four assists for the Redhawks.

As a team, Roberts Wesleyan shot 39.0% from the field compared to Dowling's 48.0%. The team was also out-rebounded 39 to 27.

The loss drops Roberts Wesleyan to 7-16 overall and 4-11 in East Coast Conference action.

On Saturday, Roberts Wesleyan hosts Molloy College at 4pm in the Voller Athletic Center.
