ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 16, 2013) – The Men's Lacrosse team opens the 2013 season on the road with a pair of games in North Carolina.
The Redhawks begin their campaign Sunday afternoon with a match-up against Mars Hill College at 3pm in a neutral site contest at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C.
On Tuesday, Roberts Wesleyan will travel to take on Pfeiffer University for a 3pm game in Misenheimer, N.C.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (0-0/0-0 ECC)
The Redhawks are going to be tested early on as the team is searching for ways to score after losing their top to scorers from last season. Senior attackman
Brett Capps will look to lead the team up front after scoring 17 goals in 2012.
Defensively, Roberts Wesleyan returns an experienced group including senior
David Michael and
Alex Williams. Michael led the team in caused turnovers a year ago while Williams makes his return after missing much of last season due to a knee injury.
In goal,
Matt Hamilton will look to build on a solid season in 2012 where he posted a .515 save percentage and a 10.0 goals against average.
SCOUTING MARS HILL (1-0/0-0 SAC)
The Lions, who come into the 2013 season receiving votes on the USILA Poll, cruised to a 19-0 drubbing of Lees-McRae College.
Attackman Will Scott picked up a hat-trick for Mars Hills while six others scored twice. In all, the Lions saw 11 players score in the lop-sided victory.
In goal, Patrick McMahon played the first 30 minutes to earn the win after making four saves.
SCOUTING PFEIFFER (1-0/0-0 CC)
The Falcons also came out on top over Lees-McRae in their season opener, winning soundly by the score of 24-0.
Pfeiffer, who was picked to finish second in the competitive Conference Carolinas, saw five different players score three goals.
Between the pipes, Hayden Kirk picked up the win after making five saves through 48 minutes of action.

The Redhawks make their home debut in two weeks when they host American International (Mass.) College on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 3pm.
