ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 23, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team led from start to finish in their 85-73 win against Queens College this afternoon.
The Redhawks were led by sophomore forward
Marissa Sell. Sell had a team-high 15 points after going 6 of 8 from the field and 3 of 5 at the line. The forward was one rebound short of a double-double after grabbing nine rebounds.
Freshman
Lakiah Huff earned her first double-double of the season after scoring 11 points and a season-high 11 rebounds. Huff's previous high was five on several occasions.
Marissa Bunce finished with 12 points after draining four shot from three-point range. The senior guard also added six assists for Roberts Wesleyan.
Sarah Alwardt put in a solid effort with 11 points and five assists for the Redhawks while
Brittany Williams and
Samantha Courtney each added 10 points.
The Redhawks went on a 13-0 run over 2:35 midway through the second half to give the home team their largest lead (18) with the score being 57-39.
As a team, the 85 points is the most the team has scored in a game since the season opening 94-55 win over Ohio Christian University.
Rochester, N.Y.-native Bria Jackson led Queens with a game-high 22 points after going 5 of 12 from the field and 12 of 13 at the free-throw line.
The win puts the Redhawks at 13-12 overall and 7-10 in conference action.
The regular comes to an end next Saturday when Roberts Wesleyan hosts nationally ranked New York Institute of Technology at 2pm. The game is a part of the annual Alumni Day and Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
