Women's Basketball Set to Host St. Thomas Aquinas Wednesday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 5, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team hosts St. Thomas Aquinas College in a mid-week game Wednesday evening at 6pm.

The game is the second meeting of the season with the Redhawks narrowly falling to the Spartans, 63-62, in Sparkill, N.Y.

TICKETS
Tickets are $3 at the door and are good for the doubleheader with the men's game following at 8pm. Roberts Wesleyan College/Northeastern Seminary faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid College ID.
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (10-9/5-7 ECC)
The Redhawks nearly knocked off #25-ranked New York Institute of Technology on Saturday, falling 72-65 in Old Westbury, N.Y. In the game, Marissa Sell led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with two steals and one blocked shot.
 
Sell, who missed four games due to a finger injury on her shooting hand in mid-season, is nearly averaging a double-double. In her four games after the injury, Sell is averaging 14 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game.
 
Brittany Williams is shooting 72.9% from the free-throw line this season, going 43 of 59 at the line. The senior forward is averaging 10.0 points per game for the Redhawks.
 
Senior guard Marissa Bunce continues her solid season the primary distributor as she averages 3.7 assists per game, placing her fifth in the conference in that category.
 
SCOUTING ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (10-11/6-5 ECC)
The Spartans have won two straight games after having lost four games prior. Their most recent result was a narrow 61-59 victory over Queens.
 
Shpresa Liharevic, a guard, is averaging 11.1 points per game this season and is shooting 37.1% from the field and 36.6% from beyond the arc. Junior guard Sara Oliveira is averaging 9.6 points per game. Oliveira leads the ECC with 2.5 three-point field goals per game.
 
Freshman forward Alyson Brennan leads St. Thomas Aquinas with 5.4 rebounds per game. As a team, the Spartans are averaging 37.0 rebounds per game while their opponents average 41.1 rebounds per game.
 
The Spartans control the ball well as they commit an ECC-low, 16.4 turnovers per game.
 
UP NEXT
The Redhawks have a busy week coming up. After Wednesday's game, the team will prepare for a two-game road trip with games at LIU Post on Saturday at 1:30pm and a rare Monday night match-up against Dowling at 6pm.
 
The team returns home for a Saturday game when they host Molloy College at 2pm on Feb. 16.
