Men's Basketball Takes on NYIT for Senior Day

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 1, 2013) – The Men's Basketball team hosts New York Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
 
The game is a part of Senior Day as seniors Devin Grimes, William Kemp-Harris, Hayden Hoebeke, and Dominique Williams will be recognized during a pre-game ceremony.
 
TICKETS
Tickets are $3 at the door and are valid for both the men's and women's games, which tips-off at 2pm. Roberts Wesleyan College faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid College ID.
 
It is also Alumni Day as Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary graduates are admitted at no charge.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (7-18/4-13 ECC)
Roberts Wesleyan looks to close out their inaugural ECC season with a win against NYIT this afternoon. They fell to the Bears a month ago on the road.
 
Freshman Tyrel Dixon fell just four assists shy of a triple-double last Saturday against Queens. Dixon finished the game with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. On the season, the forward is averaging 11.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
 
Mike Stone looks to finish his sophomore season with his three-point shooting percentage to remain above 40%. He currently is shooting 41.5% from long range.
 
SCOUTING NYIT (18-9, 12-5 ECC)
The Bears have locked up an East Coast Conference Tournament bid as they sit in fourth place in the ECC standings. Most recently, NYIT defeated rivals LIU Post in a narrow 65-62 road win.
 
NYIT has three players scoring in double-figures with senior guard Kayvon Roberts leading the way with 15.8 points per game. Junior guard Phil Izevbehai is right behind with 15.2 points and senior guard Dominic Scurry averaging 10.4 points per game.
 
Senior forward Azel Prather Jr. leads NYIT on the boards as he averages 8.9 rebounds per game. That places him second in the ECC.
 
As a team, the Bears are shooting a remarkable 46.5% from the field, which is second best in the conference. Only LIU Post is better with 47.2%.
 
UP NEXT
Roberts Wesleyan will host Houghton College in the NCCAA East Region final with a bid to the National    Tournament on the line. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 6 with tip-off scheduled for 8pm.
 
The game is part of a doubleheader as the women's teams play for the same stakes at 6pm.
