ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 1, 2013) – The Women's Basketball team takes on No. 23 New York Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
The team will honor their four seniors,
Sarah Alwardt,
Marissa Bunce,
Nicole Webber, and
Brittany Williams in a pre-game ceremony.
TICKETS
Tickets are $3 at the door and are valid for both the women's and men's game, which follows at 4pm. Roberts Wesleyan College faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid College ID.
It is also Alumni Day as Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary graduates are admitted at no charge.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (13-12/7-10 ECC)
The Redhawks downed Queens College, 85-73, last Saturday to split the season series with the Knights. The 85 points was the most Roberts Wesleyan has scored this season since their 94 points in their season opener against Ohio Christian University.
Marissa Sell led the team with 15 points and nine rebounds as
Lakiah Huff picked up her first double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Sell, who has appeared in 19 games this season continues to lead the Redhawks with 11.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. Both Bunce and Williams are second on the team with 8.7 points per game.
Freshman
Samantha Courtney leads Robert Wesleyan with 41 blocks this season as sophomore
Carneisha Henry is right behind with 40 blocks.
SCOUTING NYIT (14-3/22-3 ECC)
The Bears, who have locked up the second spot in the six-team East Coast Conference tournament, were recently ranked fourth in the first NCAA Division II Regional Rankings while being ranked No. 23 in the national polls.
The Bears have three players scoring in double-figures this season with Nikki Jo Rotolo leading the way with 13.1 points per game. Charlene Riddick, a center, has 12.2 points as Rebecca Lynch is averaging 11.8 points per game.
The Bears lead the ECC with an average of 74.2 points per game and are shooting a league high 41.5% from the field.

Roberts Wesleyan has earned the right to host Houghton College in the NCCAA East Region final this Wednesday at 6pm. The Redhawks and Highlanders will play for the region's automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championships which will be held at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.
